Get ready for the New Year with YOU on video on your site! Video Boot Camp (Sat and Sun, Nov 30 and Dec. 1, 2013), will provide you with your own one minute professionally produced promotional video for your website … featuring YOU at your very best! (or you can opt for a two minute interview clip)
A promo video on the landing page of your website is today’s business card. If you’re a business professional, you have to have a video presence on the web. But online viewers are the most fickle in history. If you can’t immediately capture and hold their attention, they’re gone … probably forever!
On day one, working with an international award-winning, commercial television writer/director, you’ll craft your script to sell you and your services. That’s because your message is absolutely critical—but it’s the thing that most novices pay the least attention to—to their detriment.
Then you’ll plan your background visuals, graphics, music, your image, and method of delivery (standing vs. sitting, for example). In short, you’ll learn all the steps the pros use to develop compelling on-air promotional videos.
On day two, you’ll rehearse your script, undergo a professional make-up session, and then go on-camera to produce your own HD quality, highly targeted, promo video designed to sell! Your professional videographer is a veteran of several Olympics, a CTV regular, and has worked on commercial and corporate production for over 30 years.
After the workshop, we’ll add a gradient background of your choice (with your logo prominently positioned, if you so choose) and deliver your video electronically in your preferred size and format, ready to be mounted on your website. You’ll have the option of enhancing your production with music, additional graphics, animation, etc. at a very reasonable additional fee.

Mastering Your Message: One full day working on your message. We’ll specifically identify your audience and their needs. Then we’ll develop really compelling benefit statements that you can craft into a persuasive on-camera message. This is where working with a group really pays off, as they’ll get to respond and feed back on your script’s effectiveness.
Conversational Connections: We’ll put your script through the “TV Talk” filter to make sure it’s in the language you use every day. TV Talk is typically grade eight talk. Your language has to fit that criteria and your personality.
Creative Clarity: We’ll look at the power of adding visuals to your clip and messing them with your message. You’ll get to re-work your script to harness the incredible staying power of visuals.
What You Wear: We’ll take particular care to choose clothing that matches the image you want to portray. We’ll recommend you bring at least three potential outfits to day two – and we’ll provide guidance for years of experience. If you’re coming from out of town, we’ll have a personal conversation ahead of time to talk about what to bring.
Green Screen: The beauty of green screen is that you can be anyone you want to be anywhere you want to be. By shooting in front of a green screen, we can replace the background with any visuals our heart desires. It allows us to enhance your performance with the most appropriate visuals from places like istockphoto.com or simply create them ourselves.
The Crew: You’ll get to work with Calgary’s top film make-up artist and a 35 television veteran videographer. There’ll be a pretty good writer/director hanging around the set, too!
The Finish: We’ll provide a finished clip ready to mount on the internet in whatever format your current website requires. We’ll make sure you have the support to get it online quickly and easily.
